Belly soiling
Accumulated oil, hydraulic fluid, grease and airborne grit on the underside of the fuselage, gear bays and gear doors. It mixes into a film that ordinary washing does not lift.
What it means
Accumulated oil, hydraulic fluid, grease and airborne grit on the underside of the fuselage, gear bays and gear doors. It mixes into a film that ordinary washing does not lift.
Why it matters
Belly contamination hides corrosion and leaks from inspection. Degreasing is as much a maintenance aid as an appearance one.
